I.R.C. Section § 1031 offers the taxpayer a unique
opportunity to shelter income by deferring the recognition of gain
which may be associated with the sale of real property. This allows
the taxpayer to keep the "earning power" of the deferred tax dollars
working for him or her in another investment.
